Brief Description

The Gender Desk at National Police and Rwanda Defence Forces was established on 16 October 2007 in order to coordinate gender-based violence (GBV) related issues. The Desk supports work to design programs and projects, drafts follow-up reports, and collects information related to violence against women. The Desk also facilitates co-ordination with relevant military units, and has Gender Focal Points at the battalion level.

In addition, the Gender Desk has partnered with the leading cellular company in Rwanda, MTN, to provide a free hotline (3945 or 0788357435), where gender-based violence cases can be reported.
